How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur

This year I will celebrate my 13th year in business. I've made a few mistakes along the way. But, I have also learned a lot, which I would like to share with you so you can continue to grow, enjoy your own successes, and share them with others who aspire to join the ranks of successful entrepreneurs.

1. Be a sponge. Read everything you can get your hands on. Attend as many professional development sessions that time and money afford. Watch the news, listen to the talk shows, and then talk to everyone and anyone. Every person from every walk of life, regardless of what they do, has knowledge to offer.

Ralitsa Vassileva anchors “Your World Today” and “World News” for CNN International. Since she assumed her duties at CNN International in 1992, Ms. Vassileva has anchored coverage of many major international news stories including most recently Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza and the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. In addition to her anchoring duties, she has reported in the field from places like Moscow, Jerusalem and the United Nations. Ms. Vassileva began her career at CNN as anchor of CNN World Report. Before this position, she was an anchor and reporter for Bulgarian Television (BT), where she helped develop a post-communist approach to news delivery and later became the country's second highest-rated anchor.

Since 1998, the Corporate Women Directors International has been providing baseline information from which women's progress on corporate boards can be measured.
